What’s been happening:

Having left Neuberger Berman, a $130b investment management firm where I was the Research Investment Officer and a portfolio manager last spring, I spent the summer working on the golf game and plotting the launch of another hedge fund with several ex-colleagues from Neuberger. Well, we know what the fall brought and the subsequent re-ordering of plans, and now a slimmer trimmer fund will be launched later this year, come hell or high water. No kids, but a mischievous black lab is like the adorable kid who need never grow up. Sport remains a constant theme, having been on the US Team in both field hockey and lacrosse way back when, with five years of horse-back riding safaris in various South African countries the latest adventure. Whether it's hiking and kayaking in Costa Rica, climbing to Machu Picchu, herding cattle in a round-up in Colorado, mountain biking in the Moab, or dog sledding in Maine, many are adventures with Outward Bound, on whose Board of Advisors I have been for many years. My latest greatest, nonprofit love is MCC Theater, a rising force in the Off-Broadway world. It's a terrific group of people with an eye for challenging new plays. I have lived in New York since '79 and am in the same apartment near the park on the Upper East Side for several decades now. I switched from journalism to Wall Street after graduating Harvard Business School back in '84. Life has been full and rich with the requisite ups and downs, and maybe I will get that book written yet.
